How to disable IE Nag : This page contains both secure and insecure content…blah blah blah
This is probably one of the irritating nags that anyone would encounter with Internet Explorer (Including IE7).
This page contains both secure and non-secure items. Do you want to download the non-secure items?
One would encounter this message at least once a day while surfing web. I am not sure if IE team is really looking at User Experience perspective to remove this Nag from their upcoming releases. Today this dialog irritated me so much to the extent of searching for a solution to remove or disable this in my browser.
and I found a support article from Microsoft saying “It’s impossible” :-). Well nothing is impossible in the world.
This Nagging dialog can be shutdown forever by following this procedure.
01. Select Internet Options from menu
02. Select Security Tab and make sure Internet Zone is selected.
03. Click on Custom Level.
04. Search for “Display mixed content” setting and select “Enable” (Default is “Prompt”)
and you are freed from the above nag behavior forever. Happy Surfing with IE.

How to play REAL media with out REAL Player
Real player is one of the famous bloatwares. Do you agree? I am not sure about it, but I hate real player for the following reasons.
- It’s bulky in installation
- Asks stupid questions in Installation
- Installs Google ware for no reason (God ! I am trying to install a media player)
- Puts lot of registry entries to start itself, annoy the user, show some messages and what not.
- Player is smaller than thier so called media browser.
- Worst media experience and memory foot-print.
- etc..etc..etc..
One fine day, I un-installed Real player from my computer. I am feeling so good and light now. Now I have fewer nagware on my machine for sure. But I still dont want to loose my online radio experience (unfortunately REAL media has bigger share).

Compress attachments automatically for GMail
Thunderbird Only
I love thunderbird for the simplicity and support for Add-ons that natively comes with Mozilla base platform. I have configured Gmail in my Thunderbird client and I am already enjoying the desktop experience of Gmail. I will write my Thunderbird experiences and Tips in another post.
Sending large attachments is a pain with Gmail (we must agree on this fact). Compressing large files before attaching is a good idea. But how do you do that smart way? Compress and Save it to local disk and then attach? Nah..
Download and Install a cool plugin called “AutoZip Attachments” for Thunderbird.
AutoZip creates a menu as shown in the picture when you compose any email. With a fair amount of options given over there you can figure out the best way to send your attachment in compressed format.
You can automate the same process using the “Zip Automatically when sending” option as well.
I found it very useful and a big saving tool for my internet bandwidth.
Indian Space Program has created history
Today, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has created a marvelous milestone in the world history of Satellite launch programs.
ISRO used thier state of art launch vehicle PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) to put 10 satellites in to outer space at one time. The launch was made out of Satish Dhawan Space Center.

Control Windows Vista UAC as you like (Windows Vista)
User Access Control ..Also well known as UAC… The most important and secured feature of Windows Vista is also one of the most annoying feature for many obvious reasons. Windows users are not used to provide secured flagging for any operation with it’s predecessors. But we cannot rule out the importance of Windows Vista UAC completely. It is very much required and keeps your computer away from many malicious activities. But how to avoid it for sometime and quickly do some work with well known applications?
Control Panel > Security > Blah Blah Blah….Naaah !
You can address this problem using a small open source tool created in .NET called “Tune UAC“. Tune UAC brings the complete UAC management experience in to a small quick launch icon level. User will be presented with all kinds of options to choose what level of UAC security he/she wants. (see the figure)
You can also check your current UAC settings, if you are not sure where to check. Tune UAC will show your current settings and suggests for a fix as well.
