Joel on Windows event log and Google
I thought of the same sometime when I tried the same approach that joel describing here in his site. Sometimes google could be your best friend to search for a solution rather than hitting MS KBase. There should be some relation between the problem and the knowledge base article written for the same.
But it is not as easy as joel says…because products are developed in a very matured process model and does’nt deal with any dynamic data hosted external. Links KB articles are just as good as any web site articles and they get created much later to the product life cycle based on the customer feedback and bugs/issues.
May be ideally there should be an automated system with in Microsoft KB publishing engine to link up the KB article and the event log link. But for me, its does’nt seems so cool to do.
